Be a Commandant in BSF: Border Security Force(BSF) is one of the Indian forces like as Indian Army, Air Force, Indian Navy, CRPF, etc. The Commandant is considered as one of the prestigious and respected posts in BSF. Commandant is senior to that of Assistant Commandant. But when you join, you have to join as an Assistant Commandant in BSF.

What is your Educational Qualification? |
Qualification: Candidates should possess a degree from a recognized University/Institution or equivalent. But if you have NCC B or C certificate, or any outstanding achievements in sports or athletics will be an added qualification.
What should be your Age limit? |
Age: You should be very conscious about your age to join BSF. You should have a minimum age of 19 years and should not be more than 25 years.
What should be other qualities required for joining BSF? |
Qualities: The candidate must be in good physical and mental health. You must be free from any disease/disability.
Height: The minimum acceptable height for Male is 165 Centimetre and for a female is 157 Centimetre.
Chest: The minimum acceptable chest for Male is 81-86 Centimetre. There is no such specification needed for female candidates.
Weight: Minimum weight for Male is 50 Kg and for a female is 46 Kg.
Vision: For Male, the distance vision (corrected) should be 6/6 or, 6/9. For Female, the distance vision (corrected) should be 6/12 in or, 6/9. Candidates must possess high color vision.
In addition apart from all these parameters candidates should not have any knock-knee, flat foot and squint in eyes.
How is your Selection strategies? |
Selection procedure: There are three rounds of the selection process. At first, you have to give a written test which comprises of two papers. The written test is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission). After qualifying written test you have to prepare for the Physical Fitness Test. After successful completion of PFT, you have to invite for Interview. If you successfully complete all these three rounds then you will become an Assistant Commandant.
How much are your Salary package and other allowances? |
Package: As Commandant is considered as a higher-level officer and thus the pay scale is in between Rs. 37400 – Rs. 67000. The grade pay ranges from Rs. 8,700 to Rs. 10,000. The new pay band 4 will be Rs. 1,12,200 – 2,00,100. And the grade pay will range from Rs. 26,100 to Rs. 30,000 after the implementation of 7th Pay Commission.
Allowance: The other allowances a Commandant enjoys are Travelling allowance, House rent allowance, and Dearness allowance. But all allowances may vary from situation to situation or region to region.
Other information: The Border Security Force of India is a border guarding force in India and world’s largest border guarding force. It is Union govt agency and works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was established in the year 1965. Their main function is to guard the border for maintaining peace and preventing crimes.
