Want to be ED officer: Directorate of Enforcement is a specialized financial investigation agency under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, which enforces the following laws. They are Foreign Exchange Management Act,1999 (FEMA), Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA). Besides directly recruiting personnel, the Directorate also draws officers from different Investigating Agencies, viz., Customs & Central Excise, Income Tax, Police, etc. on deputation.

What is the selection procedure to enter as an ED Officer?

>, First of all, we are going to know what are different exams to be there to work with Enforcement Directorate. They are given one by one.

SSC CGL exam -held every year and you may get entry at the post of AEO(Assistant Enforcement Officer), If you are already working on some government agencies like police, CBI, excise, income tax, etc. you may join ed on deputation at EO or above level, UPSC exam to make entry at EO post, UPSC IRS to enter at Deputy Director post.

>Mainly we are going to highlight the Assistant Enforcement Officer(AEO) which is taken through SSC CGL.

What is your Job responsibility/Duty role as an ED Officer?

Job responsibility: Generally the work of an AEO is considered safe but when you are searching possible illegal money of economic crime you must be extra careful not to fell into wrong hands.

How many Work locations you may have to work?

Work location: You will be posted on the Regional office, zonal office, subzonal office.
Headquarter in New Delhi, Regional offices are Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Delhi. Zonal offices are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Panaji, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Srinagar, and different sub zonal offices. You will be posted all over India mainly in big cities.

What is the salary of an ED Officer?

Salary: The salary for this post is handsome and quite good. After 7th pay commission, it will increase as per govt norms.

How much is your Duty time/Working hours?

Working time: As an ED you will be offering normal office timings. But in special cases, there is no duty time. You may have to work for a long time.

Other information: The ED department is closely related to other investigation departments, Tax, etc. Others department such as CBI, IB, CID, Tax all departments give instruct ED to search any money laundering activities, properties, etc.
